I simply cannot believe what a little girl my baby is turning into. How and why do they grow up so fast? Somebody explain this to me. She talks incredibly well for an 18 month old. She is smarter than I ever expect her to be. She really knows how to work it too. She's found an intelligent way of getting what she wants by making you think what she wants is your idea. For example: She'll say, "cookie please, cookie please?" Then I will repeat what she is saying just to make sure I understand what she is trying to communicate, so I'll say: "You want a cookie?" What does the little booger say after you ask her this? She says, "Okay." As If I were really asking her if she wanted one. Then you feel like your stuck because it really does seem like you were asking her if she wanted a cookie in the first place. She is growing and becoming prettier and prettier everyday. I can't believe I was blessed with such a sweet, funny, and smart little angel. In the morning we will hear her on the monitor talking, as if she knows we are listening. The other morning Greg and I were laying in bed and we hear her say, " I want out, I do, yeah I do." Greg and I start laughing and get excited to go in there to grab her and kiss her little face. We've also been trying to discipline her because she is getting a little sassy. So, we've been trying to introduce timeout to her. The other night Lainey was playing with some new blinds we got and being pretty rough with them. Greg asked her to stop, but of course she persisted, so he put her in her timeout spot and she stayed there like a good girl until Greg told her she could come out. About ten minutes later Greg and I were busy talking with our friend, Chris, who was over, and weren't paying attention to what Lainey was up to. All of the sudden Chris starts laughing and says, "Did you guys even see what she just did?" We look over at Lainey and see that she is in her time out spot again. Chris said she had been playing with the blinds again the whole time we were chatting away and then realized she wasn't supposed to be doing that, and went and put herself in timeout. So far the timeout thing has been working really well! :) We love our little Lainey girl. She is such a joy to have in our home. I love that I get to spend every single day with her. I have felt, on numerous occasions, that she is so special and that she was sent to our home first for a reason. I know she is going to be such a good big sister and help me out with my other children someday. Lainey, Mommy and Daddy love you more than our hearts can even hold! I can't describe in words how grateful I am to be your mother. You teach me new things about myself everyday and I love you for that too!
